My journey as a Native American on the trail of tears

Published by under Uncategorized

The sunrays warmed me almost frozen water. I drank greedily because I knew the opportunity to drink was rare.  I was forced on this journey by white men with guns their leader is a white man called Andrew Jackson.  The men told my Cherokee tribe we could no longer occupy our land. It enraged the tribe leaders they attempted to fight back but the white men with guns were like wolves.  They killed anyone who didn’t cooperate. Twenty of my fellow Indians have died so far. Many other are in the process of dying.

Orders are constantly being shouted. Most of us caught on to the English language, barley.  The elderly didn’t pick up the language as fast as we teenage children so they often lagged in the back while we walked.  Some day’s people all around me would collapse. I kept going because I knew if I died there’d be no one to take care of my baby brother Anaba. I was separated from my mother, Ituha and my younger sister, Algoma when they raided out village. My father, Bodaway was shot and killed.  But it’s not the pain and suffering that discourages me it makes me want to be stronger. I will be strong. I will finish this journey to a place the white men call Oklahoma. I will share my story when it’s time. And when my feet start hurting I’ll walk faster. When my arms feel like they are about to fall off, I will carry my neighbors basket.  I will not let the white men with guns dampen my spirits. No. And when I start to cry I will keep walking on this trail. This trail of tears.

You can define me by my actions.

Published by under Uncategorized

Since a person’s intentions aren’t always certain I would define a person by their actions. If you know what kind of person you’re dealing with and their history with you then you can assume their intentions based on their actions and the past experiences you’ve had with this person. A persons actions play a big factor in what type of person they are and what they are capable of doing since we may not always know what their intentions are based on we’d have to assume their actions reflect on their intentions and their intentions reflect on their actions.

A deep thought.

Published by under Uncategorized

If the universe is thought of as “endless” then I can’t imagine how many new worlds species, and colors their really are out there something bigger than our solar system. I’ve recently watched a program on the history channel about all the different theories about how there could be multiple universes in ours and all around us and some hypothesis’s on how  other solar systems can be “bubbles” on end. Or maybe it’s just us. One universe. One Earth. One human race.

Several U.S cities stop asking applicants about criminal history!

Published by under Uncategorized

New Haven has eliminated questions from their job applications that ask if prospective employees have ever been convicted of a crime but most cities still conduct background checks after making job offers.  Supporters say the new approach will decrease the likelihood of convicts committing new crimes. Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, California, San Francisco, Norwich, Los Angeles, Oakland and other cities consider taking this approach.

Veterans Day

Published by under Uncategorized

Veterans Day is a celebration of all the war veterans.  War veterans deserve to be honored and celebrated for surviving the fights they fought in war. Veterans also get a special burial with the American flag placed over their casket when they die.  Veterans are very important because it is an honor to have fought in war.  Veterans Day is a special day to contemplate about what it means to  be fighting for your country.

Dutch Christmas!

Published by under Uncategorized

My family celebrates Dutch Christmas it’s about a week before December 25th.  My sisters and I leave out our Dutch shoes made of wood and in the morning the shoes are full of treats.  This is said to be an act of the Dutch Santa.  Since my grandparents on my mothers side are both Dutch and my grandpa was born in Holland we celebrate some of the Dutch customs.  Every year my grandparents call us to remind us about the holiday.  I have cousins that live in Holland.  They send us letters in Dutch and presents with Dutch brand names.  It’s interesting to see all the different customs.  I love being Dutch and I love celebrating Dutch Christmas!
